Risk description
Risk articulation can take place based on the cause-eventconsequence pattern.
This translates as follows:
Due to ........(cause), there is a risk that............. (event), this will
result in ......... (consequences).
E.g. Due to geopolitical instability in South East Asia, there is a
risk that our numbers of post-graduate, overseas students will
reduce, and this may result in financial instability.
Can you phrase the risks you
previously identified based on the
above pattern (cause- effectconsequences)?
Advice: Consequences should be as specific as possible. Saying that a risk may
affect the University's reputation is not sufficient. It should be described how
exactly it will affect it.
E.g. the University's reputation may be affected as the Institution may be
considered a University that does not prioritize the wellbeing of its staff and
students/ may affect staff morale/ affecting the University's accreditation status/
declines in enrollment.
